The horror comedy adventure, starring Jack Black, was number one at US box office.
When you were in your teens or tweens, if you were a fan of those creepy stories, called Goosebumps, written by RL Stine, like me, I guess you would be pretty much excited when I say the movie adaptation is on the way.
However, the movie will be different from the book series, as it will not be an anthology of any kind. However, it will be based on a fictional take of the author of those series, R.L. Stine. Jack Black will be playing the famed author who has hidden those famous creepy monsters from his books, in his basement.
The plot of the story goes like this, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. Stine is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and he protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.
The film debuted at the top position at the US box office, and will be releasing in India today in 2D and 3D. Apart from Jack Black, Goosebumps also stars Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Jillian Bell, Ryan Lee and Ken Marino. The film is directed by Rob Letterman from a screenplay by Darren Lemke and Mike White and the story is by Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski and Darren Lemke.
