Since the time Sonu Nigam tweeted about getting disturbed by the use of loudspeaker in morning by azaan, a social media storm has been raised. Some sided with him, some made fun of his stand and some completely dissed him and suspected a foul play. One among them was actress Shraddha Das who is a neighbour of Sonu Nigam and questioned his stand by putting up a post on Facebook that stated, “There are so many police vans and media outside Sonu Nigam’s house. I live right next to him, can see it from my window since the last few days but strangely I have never heard the Azaan in morning at my place. It is hardly audible. N now I hear he just shaved his head and for the first time there is so much traffic outside our homes.(sic)”

Later, few of the news websites and TV channels too dissed his claims and stated there is no sound of Azaan. Hitting back at everyone who called him a liar, Sonu Nigam has posted two minute twenty seconds video on his Twitter account. He captioned the video, “Goodmorning India”. The above video is shot around 5 am-5:30 am and one can clearly hear the sound of Azaan. Unlike some of them who claimed the otherwise, it indeed is very much audible. Also read: Sonu Nigam shaves his head to protest the fatwa issued against him and Twitter goes crazy over it

It all started when Sonu tweeted, “God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India. And by the way Mohammed did not have electricity when he made Islam.. Why do I have to have this cacophony after Edison? I don’t believe in any temple or gurudwara using electricity To wake up people who don’t follow the religion . Why then..? Honest? True?”
