Rising Star‘s Grand Finale aired today. After months of entertaining us with its unique live audience engagement format, the interactive singing reality show finally got its first winner tonight in Maithili Thakur. She beat Ankita Kundu and Bennet Dosanjh to Along with a cash prize worth Rs 20 Lakh and Rising Star’s trophy, the winner will also get the golden opportunity to debut as a playback singer in Mahesh Bhatt-led Vishesh Films’ next venture. They will have to earn real-time votes with their singing. Anil Kapoor spiked the grand finale’s excitement quotient with his entry. The star came to launch the DVD of the second season of his popular TV series 24.

The episode began with Anil‘s performance where all the three finalists joined them. Ankita Kundu was the first one to perform. She sang Taal’s popular song – Kahin Aag Lage, which was a song selected by the viewers through a poll conducted by the channel.

Second to perform was everyone’s favorite sixteen-year-old Maithili Thakur (Team Daljeet Dosanjh). She once again stole the show with her performance on Suna Suna.
