Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh‘s Phillauri released on March 24 and though it started off slowly, it grew over the first weekend to end it on a high. However, looks like the film has seen a downward fall on the first Monday and failed to pass the Monday litmus test. The movie raked in just Rs 2.02 crore on day 4, to take its overall tally to Rs 17.27 crore. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Phillauri takes a dip on Mon… Fri 4.02 cr, Sat 5.20 cr, Sun 6.03 cr, Mon 2.02 cr. Total: Rs 17.27 cr. India biz.”

We always expected the film to see a drastic dip on the first Monday. This is because of the fact that even though the cast gave some fantastic performances, the film has failed to impress the critics. Our reviewer, Sreeju Sudhakaran also mentioned, “Phillauri has some spirited performance from its lead actors, unfortunately, the same spirit has not gone into the making of the movie. What started off as a promising film ends up as a boring and a tiresome hotchpotch by the end.” Popular film critic Rajeev Masand also said, “Phillauri isn’t a consistently smooth ride. It’s uneven and bumpy and unforgivably slow in portions. But a lot of it works and some of it flies.” ALSO READ – 7 flaws in Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri that prevent the movie from replicating NH 10’s success

The audience has also given a similar verdict. They have liked the performances, but not the movie. Watch what they had to say during our public review right here:

Though the reviews haven’t been so good, Diljit’s star power has rescued Phillauri. His popularity in the North sector gave the movie fantastic collections and with that, Phillauri has become a profitable venture. Talking about it, Vijay Singh (CEO of Fox Star Studios) mentioned, “The fun, family entertainer has found its audience and we are happy with the collection that this small film with a big heart has been putting up. The film will register a good week one and has become a profitable film for us.” ALSO READ – Phillauri public review: Audience praise Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh and Suraj Sharma’s fantastic performance but call the movie boring – watch video
