Despite getting into a heated face off with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil is continuing to do decent business at the box office. I mean, it might be earning slightly lesser than SRK’s film but that doesn’t mean it has lost its momentum in any way. The film which opened up to Rs 10.43 crore on day 1, has managed to collect Rs 15.05 crore on its first Sunday(day 4), further taking its total to Rs 67.46 crore in 5 days. That too with just 40 percent of the overall screen count to its credit. Now if this doesn’t spell success for Kaabil then I dunno what will.
In case you didn’t know, whatever earnings Kaabil is making right now is nothing but only profits. Producer Rakesh Roshan broke down the details for us stating, “I sold the film for a lesser price to my distributors. I am the only producer who sells to individual distributors. My all India sale to distributors is not exceeding more than Rs. 42 crores. I made the film in, without counting Hrithik’s and my price, we have made the film at a budget of Rs.35 crore. Plus Rs. 15 cr on P&A. Satellite rights were sold for Rs. 50 cr, while music was sold for Rs 8 crore. Overseas went for Rs. 16 crore.” Which means, Kaabil has earned more than the budget by selling the satellite rights itself so we don’t see why the film at any disadvantageous position. Of course, apart from the number game, the story of Kaabil too is winning over the audience. Critics as well as the audiences cannot stop raving about the fact Hrithik is so phenomenally brilliant in the film as he nails the ‘visually impaired’ act. In fact, even our editor reviewed Hrithik’s performance by calling it his ‘career best’. All of this automatically boosts the success of the film be it through word of mouth publicity or through best of best reviews.
From the little that we know, trade experts are predicting Kaabil will bridge the margin between Raees in the coming week considering the film is gradually growing on the audience. Keep watching this space for latest updates on box office.
