Hrithik Roshan is one of the few Bollywood ‘superstars’ who has climbed the ladder of success through pure acting. In his 17-year-long career the actor has featured in family dramas, rom-coms, sci-fi thrillers and even period films but there is one genre that he is eager to explore and that is psychological thrillers. In a recent interview with DNA, the Kaabil actor revealed, “I have a fascination for psychological thrillers. I think if made well, they can be great films. I would love to do one soon. In fact, I have been itching to do one for years now.”
When asked if he has any particular film in mind that he would like to replicate here in India he said, “I am a huge fan of The Sixth Sense. I think it’s unbelievable what they did with that film. So if we can create something like that, I would readily do it. No one needs to cajole me at all.”
Hrithik feels that Bollywood hasn’t explored the genre yet and it has been neglected for long. He feels that such films need to be backed with powerful scripts. “It’s one of those neglected categories we have. I don’t think as an industry, Bollywood has made some amazing ones. We need to have a powerful script in place for that because that’s the main requirement and once we get that correct, everything else will fall in place,” he added.
On the work front, Hrithik is now all set to make his debut in Marathi films with Hrudayantar, which is releasing on 9th June 2017. Directed by actor’s fashion designer-turned-filmmaker Vikram Phadnis, the film is said to be an emotional drama and Hrithik has an important cameo in the film. He was also rumored to have signed a Kabir Khan film opposite Katrina Kaif but it later turned out to be false. Apart from films, the actor recently became the brand ambassador of a digital application named Happn. He has also expressed a desire to write a book about his life.
