Hina Khan‘s die-hard fans still haven’t come to terms with the fact that she has exited the popular daily soap Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and that she will no be longer seen in the show, with which she has been associated for the past eight years. Her character, Akshara, has fallen into a valley after getting hit by Karthik’s car. While the fans our still hopeful of seeing her back in the show as her body hasn’t been recovered yet, Hina says there is no possibility of return.
In an interview with a popular entertainment web portal, she asserted that she is in no mood to return on the show. “It was taking a toll on my health. Of late, I was down with dengue and kidney stones. I want a break for 2-3 months, the producer and the channel suggested that I go on a sabbatical and then come back, lekin ab nahi, bahut monotonous ho gaya tha. They had shown me in every character and shade, Akshara’s journey was over. So yeah, I am still shooting for it, a few scenes which will later be shown in flashback mode. But I am not coming back to Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for sure. I would like to return and do something different and fresh,” she said.
She explained that it was not easy for her to end the long association. While most actresses leave their shows after four-five years, she stuck around for eight years. She even went on to say “I broke Tulsi’s (a character from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi) record of being the lead on a show for the longest time- and none of the actors in the current scenario on TV, have reached the stage where I have. So, you see, fame comes with its fair share of issues.”
Talking to another daily, she said, “It was a show that gave me everything I have in life. I formed bonds that will last forever. In the past few days, my co-stars haven’t been looking at me [directly], because if we make eye contact, we will start crying. It has been a sweet ending for me.” ALSO READ: Hina Khan broke into tears while shooting her last episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
There were many rumours doing the rounds that she quitted the show because she had a problem with the show’s focus shifting to Karthik and Naira’s love story. Rubbishing that she said, “Not at all. There have been stories floating in this regard, but if there was any truth to them, I would have quit long back. Even when I finally put in my papers, I debated for a long time.”
Hina has been receiving threatening calls from her fans asking her not to leave the show. While she is overwhelmed by the love they are showering on her, she does not encourage such acts. “People are surprised. Fans have been angry and I have received threatening messages such as, ‘We will not watch the show from now on’ and ‘We will hurt ourselves [if you don’t return]’. If they don’t want to watch the show, it’s their prerogative, but I don’t appreciate the messages. In fact, one girl sent a video of her holding a knife saying she would hurt herself if I quit. That was scary. I will put up a video on social media telling fans not to take such drastic steps,” she said.
Talking about her future projects, Hina told the daily, “Since the news of my exit from the show broke, I have been getting offers for other shows, but I want to relax for a few months…I am tired and want to rest. I don’t mind a weekly show but I will not do a daily soap.”
