The first full fledged promo for season 7 of Game of Thrones has been released by HBO. The sneak peak doesn’t offer any new footage from the season but a promotional one. As the lines, from a song by British band James, “Those who feel the breath of sadness, Sit down next to me, Those who find they’re touched by madness, Sit down next to me …” play in the background, the trailer unfolds. We see Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen take, what promo title suggests, the ‘Long Walk’. Jon is walking through the halls of Winterfell, and Cersei through King’s Landing, while Daenerys Targaryen takes a strolls in her ancestral home of Dragonstone. Cersei places herself on the Iron Throne, once again.

If you are the lucky one you will think this is the end of the teaser, like I did. But soon I spotted on the time marker and there was more left. As my eyes switched to screen, the most exciting bit rolled out. Cercei exhales a cold, icy breath! And the camera pans out from that breath to reveal an icy blue eye of the The Night King! Seven Kingdoms, are the least of problems for our main characters.  Hell, yeah! Winter has come, finally. Or so we are made to believe so, once again.

Seriously, season after season we are being led to believe that The Night King is arriving, Winter is Coming! But by the finale of the season we realise that the winter has come as good for 10 minute cameo in totality. Hope season 7 does better than that.

Also, let us not forget that there is a very strong chance that this might be the last season for Sophie Turner’s character Sansa Stark. There are rumours floating that Sansa will be the one fed to death by the showrunners in this season, in order to quench their own sadistic thirst of killing off main characters. Maybe they kill off characters to take the story forward, but I like the former explanation better.

Don’t forget to look forward to Ed Sheeran’s cameo in season 7 as he joins the cast.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres July 16.
