Looks like after sports biopics, Bollywood’s new obsession is gangster biopics! We saw Shah Rukh Khan as a famous vigilante gangster in Raees. We’ll be seeing Amitabh Bachchan reprise his role as the ruthless mob in Sarkar 3. But it’s not just the men who are making heads turn with their bad to the bone roles. The ladies are also heading the same path! Enter Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. We recently put up a news stating that DP has signed a Vishal Bhaardwaj film, a story that revolves around the life of Rahima Khan aka Sapna Didi. For all those unaware of her history, she is known to be one of the most feared female dons of Mumbai. Bharadwaj has taken a leaf out of famous author Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai, which speaks of Sapna Didi as one of Dawood Ibrahim’s enemies and how she almost succeeded in assassinating him but was killed by his men instead.

Now the first thought that struck us the minute we read about DP becoming a feared don, we couldn’t help but bring Shraddha Kapoor in the picture. Well, only a true Bollywood fan would be very well versed with how the Half Girlfriend’s next project is Haseena. She plays a don in the film, yes, one of the most feared. This is just taking us back in time when Mumbai was one of the most fearful city with mobs taking over. But at the same time, it also makes us say, “heck yeah!”. There have been movies with actresses as dons in the past too, however, with the latest brigade giving a nod to such movies just makes cinema all the more exciting!

It’s interesting that Deepika chose such a role because Shraddha also recently started working on Apoorv Lakhia’s Haseena, a biopic on the life of Dawood Ibrahim’s sister, Haseena Parker. In fact, the first look of the actress in and as the feared mob of Mumbai was also released. Come to think of it, both the actresses will be shedding their girl-next-door hottie and cutie image as they take such challenging roles. Playing a real life personality isn’t a piece of cake and especially when you’re trying to tell a real life story. So obviously there’s a lot of pressure.

Who do you think would be able to win the audience’s heart with their performance? Let’s rephrase that, who are YOU more excited to see as a don onscreen? Shraddha or Deepika?
