As part of the Republic Day celebrations, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal released the first look of his next film – 1971 Beyond Borders. Mohanlal aka Mahadevan looks battle ready and fearless in this poster, as he takes on the enemy. It is the fourth movie of Mohanlal’s Major Mahadevan series after Keerthi Chakra, Kurukshetra and Kandahar. The superstar will reprise his role as Colonel Mahadevan, but this time, he will play another character – Mahadevan’s father – Major Sahadevan. Woohoo! A double treat indeed for all fans. Reportedly, the film is set in two time period that mainly revolves around the 1971 Indo-Pak war. But this time, more than the war the film will explore a true story based on a friendship between two officials. “the focus will be on the individuals rather than the war, and will portray the relationships that are forged during the war” stated Major Ravi in an earlier interview. Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh will also be part of this movie as Lieutenant Colonel Rana Sharif, a solider from the Pakistani army. Telugu actor Allu Sirish will debut in Malayalam cinema with this movie as Colonel Chinmay. Asha Sarath is also part of this war drama. The team has been shooting across various locations in Rajasthan and Kerala.  They will now head to Georgia to shoot for a few sequences. Army Camps and Bunkers have been created for this movie by art director Saloo K George. Mohanlal was recently seen in Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol opposite his Drishyam co-star Mina. He played a Panchayat Secretary who was fed up with his life, wife and his family. The story was about a middle age couple finding love again. The story has been positively received ever since its release on 20th January. The superstar had a grand 2016 with three superhits to his credit – Oppam, Janatha Garage and Pulimurugan. His film with Vysakh went on to come the first Malayalam movie to cross the Rs 100 crore mark worldwide. From a Garage owner to a blind man to a Panchayat Secretary and most recently a colonel from the Army, the actor is currently at his versatile best. No wonder he ‘s called a complete actor.
